This coming of age story centers on 13-year-old Luli McMullen, who runs away from her ramshackle Nebraska home after being abandoned by her deadbeat parents and heads to Las Vegas. Along the way, she learns the truth about American rootlessness and discovers both the power and peril of her own sexual curiosity. Luli crosses
paths with Eddie, an unstable rebel with questionable motives and
Glenda, a cocaine snorting drifter on the run. Adapted from the
critically acclaimed novel by Andrea Portes, this powerful story pulls
you into provocative world of drugs, seduction, and murder.
The film stars Chloe Moretz ("Hugo", "Dark Shadows"), who encounters a seedy cast of
characters – a sociopathic cowboy drifter played by Eddie Redmayne ("My
Week with Marilyn") and a surrogate mother of sorts played by Blake
Lively ("The Town", "Green Lantern"), a cocaine-snorting drifter.
The film is based on Andrea Portes' novel by the same name about the
hard life of an abandoned 13-year-old Nebraska girl as she hitchhikes to
Las Vegas. Portes wrote and served as executive producer for the film.
