Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña play two LAPD officers Taylor and Zavala as they patrol the city's meanest streets of south central Los Angeles. In the film the two officers make a bust and consequently found themselves in big trouble with the cartels.
Jake spent five months training with the cops and riding along patrols. In the end, he got so good at it that real police officers didn't realize he was an actor and not one of them.
Written and directed by David Ayer, whose research into the Los Angeles Police Department led to his most prominent screenplay, Training Day. Ayer also collaborated on the screenplay for The Fast and the Furious, wrote the screenplay for SWAT, and directed Harsh Times and Street Kings.
END OF WATCH opens in theaters September 28, 2012.
