Before Dark Shadows hits the theaters this 11th of May, here's a rundown of the characters you will get to know within the story.
Stoic in the face of a centuries-old family curse, Elizabeth is the
elegant and formidable matriarch of the dysfunctional Collins family, and the only one Barnabas entrusts with the truth of his identity.
She's determined that above all, their family will endure, and she is
the picture of sophistication and strength even as their fortunes
crumble around them.
Dr. Hoffman is the rather intense, often hungover live-in psychiatrist
who has been treating young David Collins since his mother was
tragically lost at sea. Brilliant but batshit, she's an expert on
disorders of the body and mind...and things that mix with bourbon. Barnabas' rather odd and anachronistic behavior immediately raises the suspicions Dr. Hoffman, who has no idea what kind of problems she’s really digging up.
Angelique Bouchard is Collinsport's wealthiest, most powerful
resident...and, unbeknownst to the townsfolk, a vile demonic witch.
Ageless, sinister and positively obsessed with Barnabas, Angelique is
driven by envy and rage to destroy all that he loves and make him suffer
alone for eternity.
Elizabeth's rebellious 15 year old daughter Carolyn is having as much
fun living on a remote, dilapidated Victorian estate as any teenager
would. When she's not dreaming of running away to New York or
antagonizing her cousin David, she's lamenting how no one understands
what she's going through.
There's more to David's new nanny than meets the eye. The spitting image
of Barnabas' long-lost love Josette, Vicky is undeterred by visitations
from Josette's ghost and appears to be running from a dark secret that
propels her mysterious connection with the Collins family.
Every wealthy family has one, and Elizabeth's brother Roger Collins is
the resident greedy, ne'er-do-well playboy at Collinwood Manor. Roger
has been adrift from his son David since the death of David's mother,
becoming an increasingly unscrupulous, arrogant absentee dad.
A precocious and lonely 10 year old, David believes his dead mother
communicates with him. His family dismisses his claims, but David finds a
believer in his new governess, Vicky, and an ally in Barnabas, who
assures him that being a Collins is far more important than being a bit
mad.
Part chauffeur, part cook, part groundskeeper and frequent drinker,
Willie is the last of Collinwood Manor's loyal servants to still answer
the call. He's salty and unpretentious, a stark contrast to Barnabas'
formality and flourish.
